i'm going to paris in 63 days.

well, i won't be there for 64, but i get on the flight at sfo in 63. OMG.

yesterday i was reading "sixty million frenchmen can't be wrong." the chapter on eloquence made me SO excited to get over there (seriously, nicki, learn a synonym for "excited"...it's in like every post). they love their language and prize people who know how to artfully put sentences together and make a speech sound like a piece of art. when someone says he is a writer, the french go "ooo impressive." in america, we all go "god, how do you make money? you must be poor. need a dollar?"i hope to meet some of the most amazing writers over there. i'm gonna try to improve my french solely because i want to read their works the way the french read them.

oh, maybe i should actually work on that then.

what should be the first post

this is what that last post should have been--the low down on what the heck this blog is all about.

i'm studying abroad in paris in the fall. from august 31st to december 23rd, i'll be at the american university of paris, right there in the heart of the city. i'll be living with a french "family" (aka someone brave enough to rent out a room to a rowdy UC kid) and paying far too much rent. scratch that, my parents are paying (i love you, mom and dad!)

it's gonna be fun. no, i need a better adjective than that. my writer brain can come up with something better, but right now it's too clogged with worries about my visa stuff coming together, about how much money i'm (not) gonna have, about how i'm gonna miss everything here...about how i'm gonna miss some people so damn much.

i've been pushing all the deadlines

this should have been created months ago. i should've written a "hey, here's what this blog is all about!" post. i should've already applied for my student visa and i should've already bought my plane ticket.

instead, i went on facebook/replied to email/read/slept. good one, nicki.
